Spring's here again... time for observing some galaxies! As a warm up, I did this sketch of the Leo Triplet. The nice thing about having some aperture at my disposal (plus a more than decent sky) is that the character of each little galaxy begins to leap out at you. They're no longer just "greyish blobs" but show a lot of structure. These three are a nice example and I'll be back with more!

Peter

Uncredible Peter, very very nice sketch, 18" ... f/4,45 don't only make the difference,... your eyes ... well. You says it's a warm up... I stay connected.

Great work Peter. I wish I saw that kind of detail but 8 inches is my biggest. Still interesting to see all three in the same field of view.

You have captured them beautifully.

Ken

Peter,

This is the sure sign of spring, when someone makes a great sketch of this trio and posts it. Excellent.
A tricky part is getting all 3 in the eyepiece field of view.
Nicely done.

Frank

Thank you very much! I was quite confident all 3 would fit in the FOV of my 24mm Explore Scientifics, but still I was very happy that they eventually did.

Peter.

I'm speechless. Its totally amazing how you can render the feel at looking in your scope. The fuzzy edge of your eyepiece add so much to the realism of your sketch. The stars look so real. Its truly impressive.

Andre.

Beautiful work. An excellent trio in my 8" too tho with less detail obviously. What I like best about the trio is the way one plays off the other visually. In the drawing its obvious but in the eyepiece its cryptic even the way the details morph from uneven light to - in my case - general structures. You've conveyed the glow of the entire field well.

Pete

Thank you so much, all of you. I'm so happy to be part of this wonderful group of "visual artists"...
