Congratulations Mike, I think you will really enjoy this. I recently brought a set of Nihon Seiko/fullerscopes EPs from Skylight telescopes in the UK. I use them with a Unitron 152/unihex B and they give very nice planetary views. I wish my lot were as well preserved as your 40 mm EP, but as you can see they have been well loved.

Always worth checking with Dudley Fuller's ep's. Usually he re-branded good Japanese stock with 'Fullerscopes', but they weren't always of the type stated. Sometimes 'orthos' were plossls
I had a boxed set of his orthos to clean for a local school, they are generally very good, typical 70's Japanese glass.

Thank you for the information! 40degrees is average for an ortho.. Still waiting for the eyepiece to show up but it has only been in the mail for 5 days.

There are just the very slightest signs of use. The reason the glass looks green is because the eyepiece is sitting on green tape. Right now solid overcast, with wind gusts to 37 mph.

I've also picked up a Fullerscopes 40mm Orthoscopic which came yesterday.

I notice that the top is slightly different to ngc2289's, the volcano top on mine doesn't rise to a sharp rim but instead is flattened off. It's a bit more obvious in the second shot from the top if you compare the placement of the lettering compared to ngc2289's.

I also haven't had a chance to try it out yet, it's windy and overcast here, and the forecast for the next few days isn't optimistic.

James

View from the top. Although it doesn't look it (blame the photographer - me), the glass is perfect!
