Where did the AP 900 go?
      #5774464 - 04/02/13 11:47 PM

I know there is chatter about AP rolling out a replacement for the 900, but I didn't realize they were gone already. I was just at the AP web site and the 900 is no longer listed; only the Mach 1, 1600, and 3600. Was there an official announcement or something recently? Thanks!

Clear Skies,
Brian

A wild guess would suggest that they've sold the last 900 they had on the shelf. Expect the 1100 to be unveiled at NEAF.

If you search this forum, there are already some things known about the replacement. Search for AP1100.

Also, AP has said in their user group, that they will be making a formal announcement very soon - possibly this week.

Roland announced a while back that the 900 units that they had were the last and there would be no more made. I believe they sold out faily quickly after that.
Anacortes had a new one for sale recently, but I have no idea of whether they still have it.

I guess that means I'll be getting a call pretty soon. I put my name on the 900 list a few months ago. Alice called and said "We have them in stock now". I told her I would wait for the next run knowing that the 1100 would replace it.

I may have gotten the last 900! I ordered it through OPT and it is due to be shipped next week. Just in time to take to the Texas Star Party!!! I was told that it was the last 900.

I guess I will have to demote my CGEM in my signature block!

This past weekend on the yahoo ap-gto forum, Roland posted that they would be announcing the AP-1100 in a couple days. Marj followed up in a subsequent post stating that the information should be posted on the website closer to the end of the week. Needless to say, I've been checking the astro-physics website every day this week.

Best Regards,
John

Yep, They sold the last one the first of April. the site says to check the whats new page around the 4-5 April for more info on the 1100GTO. I,m guessing that the first production run will be in June. And don't expect it to be under $10,000

I wish they would stop production on the Mach1 and offer a new one so people would start dumping their Mach1's in the classifieds for cheap

It may take a while. I have had a 1600 on order since January and I am expecting it (hopefully) in May.

Looks fantastic! Basically, a smaller AP1600, it seems. But, personally, I think the AP Mach 1 GTO is the only truly portable mount left now. As an owner of a MX, I think the only thing I'm going to envy are the encoders.

Not sure what the price is but it's probably close to the 1600 so i'm not sure which the better value is.

When AP1600 was released, the price was a tiny bit more than AP1200. So I expect the AP1100 to be priced at or a little bit more than AP900. AP1100 is actually LIGHTER than AP900 plus 40lbs more carrying capacity (110lbs vs 70lbs). That's quite an achievement.

Peter

Looks ugly compared to the AP900/1200.

I am glad that I got the AP900 when I did. I like the new stuff, don't get me wrong. But I am happy with the old style and the price used made it a no brainer.
