See what happens when you cage wild animals up for too long? When they get out, they start doing crazy things like collecting photons in the middle of the night.

Thanks Warren..
Friday I shot 18 X 5 minutes of M51 with the Canon T1i Then shot 25 X 5 minutes of it with the KAF6303E. Combined as an L + RGB Hybrid. Not really felling it with this one.. It's a pretty fair crop due to camera orientations. I'll re-work it and see what I can do to get better color representation..

The cat ain't out of the bag yet Josh! I still had a huge problem with LP on these. Gradients were downright bonded..

I need dark sky before I can really go crazy. I pushed it on the 5 minute subs on M51. I tried dialing it back on M106 but still had troubles.

Thank You Shawn! I wish I could have put more time in on 106. Last night was questionable (clouds started rolling in)and it's overcast now at least into next week.

Robert,
Really like your M106, Nice detail!
Had to take another look at my "fuzzy" data from the other night, I see that I captured the Supernova in M65 even with the bad data!

Thank You SergeC, Al, and Jose!

@ Al: Sure was a treat to get some sky wasn't it! 3 nights!

For those of you not from "around here", Sure we'll get some passable weather from time to time but the combination of the Pacific, The Latitude and the Olympic Mountains, actual imaging weather becomes pretty rare.

I went back and re-worked the M51 image. Took the RGB through PixInsights ABE... twice; then recombined it with the Luminance data. I think its a pretty good improvement..

I know exactly what you mean Robert. We've had the same *BLEEP* weather up here on Vancouver Island as well. I've been out 2 nights in a row until 2:30 am. Your pix are beautiful. I like M 106 and 51 looks great as well. Some tweaking of the green channel might tidy that up.

Hi Robert,

Looking good! We had some very decent nights here too - I'm hoping I got enough data to finish my 'Thors Helmet' widefield... not much SII data there, but what is there I now have. Also went after M101 here doing RGBL and have to see what I came up with. I am linking the galaxy widefield imaging a lot. I've wanted to image this for the last 3- years or so and always weather an issue... still waiting for M78, my only attempt was with the SSPv2 and I think was marginal to the point I tossed it.! This has been another PNW winter where I wonder why I even own the gear?

Very nice shot Robert! Love the two galaxies in the upper right as well.
First time I saw M51 really good was up in Winthrop...it's dark up there!

Thank You Randal, Jim, and Kerry!!!

@ Kerry: Yeah My friend has a place up off of Rendezvous Road outside Winthrop. Aside from Slate Peak on a clear night, It's my favorite spot for Imaging!
