The new AP mount is the 1100GTO. There was a highly popular GOTO mount called the GT-1100 some 14 years ago now. I do wish they had chosen a different name for the new AP mount. Oh well, too late now.

I agree. I figured it should have been the AP1000GTO. AP said that there was another mount called that but I get absolutely no hits in google when searching for it or anything similar.

And Celestron uses 1100 today for anything involving a C11, including CGEM, CGEM DX, CPC forks, CGEpro, or plain optical tubes. It's going to be a golden age for silly confusion.

My friend and I were just debating about that. My guess is 9~10K

Not with the encoders. I'm guessing $11k without and $14k with the encoders.

The best photo load/weight ratio of the market.
The components weight quite the same as the 900, even marginaly lighter, which is excellent. Unique on the market in fact
Its capacity is very close to the 10micron GM2000HPS ultraportable version, but much lighter 22Kg against 28Kg for the GM2000. The AD block weight only 11.3Kg against 15Kg for the GM2000. (12Kg for the AP900)

I find it amazing that about 20% of the AP1100 weight is the counterweight shaft.

Yep, the weight is where it is the most efficient. Clever!

The AD worm shaft and wheel are exactly the same as the 900. The DEC worm shaft and worm wheel are now the same as the AD. (a little bit smaller on the 900)

The main improvement is the axis diameter. It is now 80mm for both AD and DEC against 56 and 44 (resp) for the 900.

I think you are very mistaken on the encoders, after all, there are already two pricings describing the cost in detail, one for the AP3600 and one for the AP1600. Encoders on both axis are going to set you back $7-8K in addition to the base cost of the mount.

My guess at the cost of the base AP1100 mount is going to be around $9250 +/- $500.

If that is the actual price point I have to say it looks very attractive with the stated capacity.

That puts it close to $18,000. Indeed very attractive.

The 10Microns (even the base level HPS 1000 which is $7250 after tax rebate, but without shipping) have encoders on both axes.. and mount modeling in the mount (no need for ProTrack, or APCC, or...)

I would probably look at a 1000 or a 2000 when it's time to get a beefier mount than the Mach1, simply due to price..

LOL Alph I was thinking about the 11K estimate without encoders.

Might be you could still consider an AP900. There are even some overstock prices in some shops.

The AP 900 is doing an outstanding photo job. I have been able to guide at 0.2" RMS with 70lbs load. Would the encoder make better, not sure...
Also the heaviest part of the AP900 (the AD bloc) is only 12Kg, much less than the GM1000 and even less than the Mach1. The AP900 is not so big as well.

The 900 is still an awesome imaging platform. I wonder what the encoders would do for people like me who have to travel to dark sites and setup every time.

I sent an email to Astro-physics a couple of days ago about the price and about some of the accessories and received a reply from Christine. She told me that the 1100GTO is in production now and the price will not be determined until sometime in may and that they will start selling them sometime in July. She also told me that the mount will fit on an 8" pier, 5#, 10#,18# counterweights, mounting plates, right angle polar scope will work on the 1100GTO and will not require polar scope adapter like the 900GTO.

Roland said online yesterday that the price will be finalized in the next few days. He also said that the price will be very competitive with similar mounts available now.

Probably a response to the Paramount MX, but the Asian competition isn't sleeping either. Looks like a great mount for the C11, so why not "AP1100?" What's next the AP1400?

I think next mount should be an upgrade for the Mach1GTO to use an encoder as an option. And release the Apcc for sale.

I also think that next round, Roland should consider produce more small and medium refractor.

Roland has said the Mach1 was meant to be a portable mount and at that size the absolute encoders would not be an option.

The AP130GT has been, and still is, in production for the past 5 years and Roland says he will continue to produce them as long as quality glass remains available. Roland is up to late 2002 to early 2003 on the waiting lists now. There is always Astromart if you want one quicker or order a 140TEC.

As to AstroPhysics producing anything smaller than the 130, it will not happen. Roland has said so repeatedly over the past 5 years.

He said about six months ago that he MIGHT be getting glass for a run of 160's but has not confirmed it nor mentioned it lately. He did mention that he will be building a few more Riccardi-Honders 305's in the near future but these have been spoken for a few years ago. There is always Officina Stellare if you want something along those lines.

The last 5 AP175's are going to be shipping soon but they too have been spoken for six months ago.

"Buh-deh, buh-deh, bud-deh, buh-deah; That's all folks."

I think he mentioned it on the group chat in Feb. Maybe we'll see at NEAF this month.
