Acetone to remove reflective center spot?
      #5786593 - 04/08/13 06:34 PM

On my 8 inch, f7.4 Mike Spooner mirror, there is a white 1/4 inch diameter reflective spot that I want to remove so I can use a return laser beam to collimate. Now I use a cheshire-sight tube to collimate this scope with, but I want to get more accurate. Right now it does not reflect a laser beam good enough to use as a return beam. Would using acetone w/ q-tips remove the reflective material so I can get down to the mirror surface?
Thanks, David

I've never tried removing one myself but was reading here about others experiences.
