First Saturn of the Year April 7th from Az. new

Seeing was only fair, low alt does not help either.Considering those two factors image came out better then I expected.Hoping better seeing will help offset the low alt factor this apparition. Thanks for looking.

Good start Frank. Hopefully we'll get that stable April-May seeing this year.

Your images look better than mine. Pretty nice, Frank. I was imaging last night, and there seemed to be dust and loss of transparency. I had some artifacts showing up in the ring. Oh well. Glad you had better success.

Yes that's rather good for fair seeing Frank; the next goal when the seeing improves is to resolve the CD clearly across the entire face of the planet in an RGB image. I'm fairly sure you would have done that had the seeing been 4/5. In fact if you look at your red channel image you might see the CD resolved in this manner already.

That's excellent Frank - it's easy to forget how much more difficult it is for you fellas up North, but like Paul says with more stable weather patterns ahead I reckon you folks could well be looking at some pretty impressive images soon.

But regardless of what might be, this image is very praiseworthy in itself imho..!

That's a very good image. Having experienced Jupiter so high and now Saturn fairly low, I'm comfortable saying that higher altitude is better. Shocking discovery! Seriously, I think what the low altitude will mean for us is that we're very dependent on seeing and will need to consider local seeing more than usual. But as this image shows, it can be done, so we just have to keep at it.

Frank, excellent images! The banding and detail look good. I am hoping to try f20 next time out in an attempt to reduce the B channel noise. Thanks for posting

Regards,
Steve
