MeadeLX3 Defork and Remount, That was easy!
      #5787104 - 04/08/13 10:55 PM

I recently replaced the thermostat in my 2004 Chevy Trailbalzer...THAT was hard, this was a piece of cake.
The culprit:

This looks like it will come off...didn't need to...

The bolts under the fork, opposite the dec, they DO need to be loose

and then these screws DO need to come out

Vioala!

Screw on vixen dovetail from ADM and mount on new to me EQ6...easy peasy!

Congrats on the "New" set up!!. I'll be doing this one day also. How heavy do you think the OTA alone is? I think I may also add some handles for safety like Astronewb did here: Carrying Handles for SCTs and RCs

Now you can sell the LX3 mount and cover the expense of the dovetail and the universe will come back into balance.

28 lbs...yeah handles would be nice but I will only move mine a few times a year. What goes on the pier tends to stay on the pier.
Now I'm kinda worried it won't fit in my little slide away shed, may have to set up a custom park position.

Wish I had someplace to set up semi permanent, but I have to break down each time. So I'll have to save for, let see, dove tail, Focal reducer, and mounting bar for handles (but it'll double as guide scope mount), Oh Boy $$$$$$ Great!!!

Custom park should be easy with EQMOD I hope.

Warning:
These screws WILL go right into your mirror if you put them back in!
Luckily I didn't do any damage, but it could have been bad.

Appreciate the advice and pics.

Just deforked my old 2080, remounted on Celestron Advanced VX Mount. A new lease of life!
