That makes sense, highfnum. When I got my 7" mak, it was after deciding not to go with a 11" SCT for the time being. I would have needed to upgrade my mount, wasn't quite ready for the additional expense. But someday...

Thanks for the comments!

Nice image and very sharp details too.

I wonder what minimum aperture is needed, if possible, to see the Alpine Valley's rima visually.

Shadows in the Moon are among my favourite details and seeing how they grow in a night just delicious.

Richard
It seems as though you're mastering the talent needed to bring out some great lunar features. One great shot following another. Keep up the exciting work.
Be well
Grey

Thanks, pedrete, Geoff and Grey. I'm especially fascinated by the braided ridges in the lava plains. Can't think of anything like them on any other world. I've attached an image that shows a bit more of the same area.

Nice! My favourite spot on the moon. Look at the shape of the shadow of Mons Pico. I hope Edosaurus sees this one.
Thanks for sharing.

Now that you write about braided ridges, looking your image it reminds me watermark or better a huge filigree. A genuine wonder that takes my mind to think how fortunate are we with a moon so close!

Please, keep sending your photos!

Thanks, pedrete, you're very kind. If only I could catch a break on clear skies and the moon getting together...

Still needs a bit of processing work. Here is what I did to it using PhotoImpact:

Richard, you got a great perspective of this area! Shark teeth shadows and the Alpine Valley are very well defined.

Well done!

Rob
