Thanks for the pics, Matthew. Are you going to put some glass in there or the Turbo film. I have been using mine without the ERF but I haven't had the time to put the TurboFilm in yet.

Used the scope just today...it makes it a tad brighter (are to say, maybe 10%?)...I used the turbo film, and it was easy enough to put on the ring.

Hi Matthew
I have been thinking about doing this for some time, but I would like to replace the filter with clear glass or similar. Would appreciate the exact dimendions (id and thickness) of the lunt erf you removed, thanks

1)baader sells an optical glass to use in place of the removed erf - is plain glass sufficient ?

2)what is turbo glass & where to get it ?

3)is that a screw on retaining ring that holds in the lunt erf - how does one remove the erf - seems simple but dont see how to grip the ring to unscrew it.

4)baader sells an astrosolar film - not a mylar.

I think you would need the glass uv/ir coated and perhaps anti reflective coated.

Matthew,
Please know that dissembling and removing parts from your filter or scope will void your warranty.
I also want to point out that by recommending that other people should modify their solar equipment you are possible putting them in harmís way. Some people may understand what you are doing but there will be a few that donít and using this equipment without all the components can cause safety issues.

Thank you,
Rikki Hocking
