The OAS will be holding a star party at Hurricane Ridge on Saturday night July 6. We go up in the evening and observe all night, sleep in our cars and drive down in the morning, anyone is welcome.

Yessssss...... Me likes the precious.... Opps, wrong forum!

I am thinking there will be a lot of activity up there over that particular weekend. As will probably be the case with most public sites. That can be great for outreach, but maybe not so great for observing. However, as the wee hours approach, you will probably have some serious observing time.

I can see some serious potential here. Of course there is a lot to be said for setting up at a stable location for a few days and not having your time/energy wasted on setting up and tearing down...

Still open to suggestions

Unless someone is up to MSH or something looks like Hurricane Ridge might be the place. Shudder to contemplate the ferries on FOJ weekend! But nothing good in life comes easy.

I have the 1st through the 4th off, work on the 5th. I don't really like to be out and about on the 4th weekend anyway. So I'm up in the air, but if someone wants to do something earlier that week, pipe up.

Brad

I may have to miss this one. Probably going to be family time. If not, I would be open to gpldendale, sunrise, MSH (never been there)

Cliff, this looks intriguing!!
I have to work that day, but am off at 1:30pm.
Might just have to make a run up there.
Sounds doable if I leave right from work and hit the Edmonds/Kingston ferry.

Chatting with the Cle Elum Ranger station, it's possible the Table Mountain area may be open by this weekend. It depends on the weather and how the District Ranger feels about it. Given that, I am setting my sights on that site for a casual, unofficial and quite unorganized mini Star Party for the July holiday weekend.

I will update as information becomes available.

Table Mountain area is open. The Ranger cautioned to be careful in burned areas, especially in windy conditions.

I plan on being up there July 4, 5, 6 and 7. If anybody would like to join there should be plenty of space. Even though some areas are burned, I believe the overall area should be pleasant.

I am planning a recon visit possibly this weekend or next.

There is a vault toilet at Lion Rock which is just a few hundred feet from the usual Table Mountain Star Party site for those who are not self-contained.

Be great to see a few of you up there!

Stacy

Oh good. At least a few to share the sky with!

I didn't make it up there this weekend, but may give it a go next weekend. Maybe Robert might want to tag along for some scenic (or disaster lol) shots?

Stacy

That sounds pretty dang cool! It's the weekend before I drive to North Dakota for a week so I don't know if I'll be able to go, but it's a real possibility.

Robert and I are going to head up this weekend for a little recon.

We'll post pictures and information here.

Oh yeah, a little recon is good. More than a few people will be interested in your findings.

Is TableMountain open for visits on the following weekend? I'll be unable to attend any of the July4-8 activities mentioned here but would love to go up there sometime.
