Ghost crater Lambert R
      #5812461 - 04/21/13 08:21 AM Attachment (34 downloads)

Number 78 in the Lunar 100 list, Lambert R should be a rather difficult object to see. But under the right illumination you can't mis it.

Thanks guys. Weather is getting 'normal' in Belgium (after 3 month of cold and a lot of clouds), so yesterday I had another opportunity to sketch the Moon

Jef, this is definitely one of your best so far. It's so gloomy and gripping... You're a star!

Jef

Impressive sketch especially with the elongated shadow produced by the small pic. Wow.

Peter, Chris & Andre, thanks! Indeed this little isolated mountain (not in the Rukl or VMA, Lambert gamma?) was stealing the show.

Using different grey-pastels (instead of only one white pastel) makes sketching the moon less difficult.

I agree! I love how your sketch oozes out of the inky black frame.

To get the background really black I manipulate the sketch on the PC. I will explain it later in a step-by-step explination of how I sketch the Moon. But I had to find some time to poste it.

The feature that's doing it for me is that peak casting that looonnngggg shadow. Seems utterly Surreal recalling Dali among other artists of that movement. The lone starkness of it evokes this mysterious forlorn desolation about it. I don't kno where in the psyche the stark long shadows bring about such thoughts but as mentioned it was a mechanism in that movement of art. How fantastic then they its happening here in reality. One of my favorites of your works. The stark desolation never looked finer.

Bravo Jef!

Pete
