New Internal Double Stack for LS100THa
      #5819718 - 04/24/13 12:44 PM

Just in time for summer…we are happy to announce the new Internal Double Stack Module for the LS100THa. The new DSII/LS100T!

Double stacking provides a truly enhanced high definition view of the Sun's surface details. It lowers the band pass of the system from <0.7 Angstroms to <0.5 Angstroms which really makes the surface “pop”!

The LS100THa can now be internally double stacked (DSII/LS100T) at time of purchase or anytime thereafter. The LS100THa does not need to be returned to the factory for double stacking as long as you have the red anodized front cell on the scope. If you have an older model of the LS100THa with just a white tube (and no red) you will need to upgrade the scope before using the internal double stack DSII/LS100T. The “glow” that is talked about in the DSII for the LS80THa is greatly diminished.
We will start shipping the first units the beginning of June.

Retail: US$1,798.00

As I have a LS100 double stack on order, which has not yet been received from Lunt, (through OPT), how is that affected?

Hi Steve,
This does not effect your order unless you change it. We are still offering the front mounted double stack (LS100FHa) for the LS100THa scope. The front mounted double stack (LS100FHa) will preform better than the internal and will not have any glow which you may see in the internal. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Thank you,
Rikki Hocking

Hi Rikki and all:

This new DSII sounds exciting.

I am wondering in what way the LS100F would perform better than the new internal DSII disregarding the glow from the DSII. Is it because there will be a smaller sweet spot with the DSII. The LS100F does have the 3 small obstructions and I always wondered if performance would be better if it were unobstructed.

Thanks, Kent

Hi Kent,
The front LS100FHa filter will perform better than the internal module this is because of the extra lenses we need in the system to collimate the light. In the internal module we have a collimating lens before the etalon to collimate the light and a refocus lens after the etalon. These lenses can create a slight glow. We do our best to minimize it and have done better with the DSII/LS100THa but it can still be there. You will not have this with a front mounted double stack because it does not have the extra lenses. I would say to most people the glow is not an issue but if you are doing a lot of imaging and do not want a glow than you may be happier with the front double stack. That said the internal double stack is a lot less expensive because we use a smaller etalon.
Please let me know if you have any questions

Rikki, while I am extremely happy with my LS80 DSII, I wonder if there are also planned improvements to reduce glow in that version (and if so, is there an upgrade path). Not whether I would bother to do it, but good to know. Thanks. George

Hi George,
Glad to hear you are enjoying your LS80 DSII. At this time we are not looking to make any changes to the LS80T DSII. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Rikki, what's the lead time on a LS100THa with the DSII?

What's the retail for?

Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim,
The lead time for a LS100THa is about 3 months (check with our dealers because some may have them in-stock) and the DSII/LS100T will start shipping in June.
The price for the DSII/LS100T is $1,798.00. The price for the LS100THa depends on which blocking filter you choose. I have listed them below. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

LS100THa/B1200 - $4,647.00 mostly visual some imaging
LS100THa/B1800 - $4,997.00 visual and imaging
LS100THa/B3400 - $5,797.00 visual and imaging use if you have large chip

Thanks,

Hi Rikki
Now that the internal DS is out for the 100mm,do you have an idea when the internal will be released for the 60mm?

Hi Johninuk,
We will not be making a internal double stack for the LS60THa scopes. We already offer two ways of double stacking with either the LS50FHa or the LS60FHa filters. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,
