Dob goto reflector mount sticking in az movement
      #5827635 - 04/28/13 01:25 AM

Hello everyone. I have recently purchased a used Orion xx12g. The instruction manual is for an xx12g and an xx14g, so I'm sure both are built almost identically if not, as far as the base is concerned. The mount sticks when spinning around the azimuth. It catches, then stops for a second and then pushes past the "barrier". This seems to be more prevalent going clockwise more than counter, but it happens both ways. Is there any online tutorials or walkthroughs for disassembly of the base? I don't want any surprises like springs popping out of place when taking apart the mount (those damn springs!!!). Also, cleaning the "teflon" pads, what would you recommend. I have heard horror stories with armor all. Just water would work? Thank you for your advice. I am loving not have to constantly work for keeping something in the eyepiece.
