Tried to sneak in a bright one before the moon got too high. Pushed it hard to bring up the outer plumes and it doesn't quite fit the fov. Nice to finally get out and do something.

Thanks Mike.

StarTools deconvolution helps with that. The first three frames were pretty good but as soon as the moon cleared the horizon each shot got progressively brighter and fuzzier.

Thanks guys.

I'm about to try something 'completely different'. Well maybe not completely, but I ordered an ASI120MM video camera and will be using it with Frank's Metaguide program on the OAG. I think I've gotten all I'm gonna get from PHD and the LX200 mount. I'm hoping MG will give me the last bit of accuracy the LX200 mount has in it while I save up my pennies for an Avalon M-uno.

Very crisp core, Mike. I like looking at M106 close up. It has so much going on.

Mike,

Forgive my ignorance, but is this a heavy crop or does the 314L+ produce a small field of view?

Either way, there's really great detail there.

Mark

Hey Josh, thanks for checking it out.

Hi Mark, no not a heavy crop, just a few pixels around the edges to get rid of dither overlap, and then a small resample from 13xx down to 1024 to tame the noise a bit. The small field of view comes from the scope which is native f/15 2670mm fl. With the AP .67 reducer I use for imaging that only brings it down to about f/10 1800mm fl. Pixel scale works out to be .74 arcsec/pix. Thanks for lookin'.

Nice work Mike. That's great image scale for something that small. I'm going to do some galaxy hunting this weekend. I hope mine turns out that well.

Thanks Eric.

There's supposed to be halfway decent conditions for a couple nights this week. Thinking about re-shooting this without the moon lighting up the haze. But I've got a few other targets on the list too so might just move on.

Good hunting.

Ok here's the original 3 hours of L with 2 hours each of Ha + O3 added. LHOO doesn't really work very well on galaxies. I don't think I'm gonna waste any more clear nights doing this. Until I get an RGB filter set it's b/w galaxies from now on.

What exquisite core detail. I went back and looked at mine (admittedly, at only 500 mm fl), and decided to take another turn at it, now that the bar has been elevated...
