Not necessarily, but if you build it, they will come.

Managed to get a better picture this time... same CI-700 mount but this time with the Towa #339 80mm/1200mm (Selsi branded). I need to mount the original clamshell ring on a dovetail as those ADM guide-scope rings have a more permeant usage in my imaging setup.

Here's a beat up 1950's Edmunds refractor; the 4 inch F15. Original objective, but the focuser is a replacement -- the original one was stripped and corroded.

Plus a telrad and lots of electrical tape.

It's on a EQ6 -- much more stable than the original mount!

My 2011 SKY90 on its Vixen Super Polaris mount 1980's ? .
These 2 are a good match , this is my most used set up , light , strong and with awsome optics .

Just switched the original Polaris mount for my 1984 Star 140 (Celestron Comet Catcher) for a new GoTo iOptron SmartEq mount. The GoTo might be great for finding object, but I really do miss how the scope looked looked on Polaris mount! I guess older ... sometimes ... is just better!

In reality probably not to far from one another off the assembly line. One of the first C-8's on one of the last C5- ASGT's.

Charles I thought Serial #01 was on display at Celestron headquarters as a gift from someone. Or do I have something mixed up here? Set me straight. Thanks. Mike

I think it is on display, and it was formerly Charles' scope. However, it's OTA serial 01, but it's not the first orange tube. My Serial #135 "Tinky" is earlier than the Serial #1 OTA.

-Tim.

Tim is correct. The 01 was my scope...now displayed in the Torrance lobby...and yes, mine was the first Celestron sold as an OTA-only. While it's true that the production of Tim's pre-dates mine, mine has that cool "01" serial number plate

Very cool Charles. Wow, such cool displays of old and new and such interesting combinations. Thanks for all the beautiful pictures of your beautiful rigs.

Here's the '50s 3" Fecker refractor that bremms mentioned early in this thread. It shares time on the CG-5GT with an AT6RC. The CG-5 and Fecker are a great combo, but the 11-lb counterweight is almost too heavy and the 3.5 lb is almost heavy enough to balance it.

Yes , my 10 inch f/10 is almost the best Luna/Planetry scope I have ever looked thru , 25mm secondary disappears.
Here she is , the 2 parts of 12 inch aliminium tube in Dob form , each about 50 inches long as the f/l is 100 inches (2500mm )

Brian,
What is the blue scope on the surveyors' tripod in your photo? Is it an Antares?

Just picked up my classic looking Skylight AR101/15 from the International Astronomy Show in UK. Here is a picture of it mounted on Richard's Yamamoto equatorial. Kind of appropriate I think. Richard wouldn't sell me the mount but I am looking for similar to put it on.
