Orion ST80 Mount
      #5828067 - 04/28/13 10:49 AM

Anyone have a suggestion for a mount which will not cost more than 3 or 4 times the cost of the scope itself? The scope will be used only for visual with nothing heavier than a red-dot finder, a diagonal, and an eyepiece. How about the Orion EQ1 or 2? The Orion AZ-4? The less expensive Celestron Alt-Azi mounts?

I had a ST80 on an EQ1 and it worked fine.

Try to find a used Ioptron Cube. It'll snag you "GOTO" and they're pretty easy to use.

Either a Universal Astronomics MicroStar or DwarfStar is a perfect mount for the ST 80. You'll spend about the price of the scope on the mount but it will do the job very well with the flexibility to grow the scope a bit. And, these mounts are VERY light and durable.
