Tip for Az Eq6 users new
      #5827152 - 04/27/13 07:33 PM

Maybe you alll thought of this but....

In ALT AZ mode the Az Eq6 mount can be tricky to collimate the 2nd scope in Az...here's what I suggest...

Buy a set of car engine feeler guages....there will be one in there that will shim out the dovetail on the 2nd scope to bring it perfectly in line....especially if its a vixen type dovetail bar as this sits flush in the saddle giving plenty of area for the shim to do its shimming...much better than folding strips of aluminium foil.

Anthony at ADM Accessories sells a "hocky puck" style counterweight shaft to (ADM) dovetail adapter with azimuth push/pull adjustment bolts built right in. He'll customize it for any counterweight shaft diameter. The AZ-EQ6 uses a one inch diameter counterweight shaft. Note that it expects you to do altitude adjustment by rotating the shaft, hence doesn't have any altitude adjuster.

I already had an ADM Accessories MAX-M, so I just put it on the counterweight shaft side instead. Adjustments with the MAX-M are fast and easy.

Hi Howard.
Just remember you have the saddle that you sent me that I inserted cone adjustment screws. This was done to cure the problem of adjusting the secondary OTA.
You may be able to get that to fit your new mount.
cheers.
Graham.
