Congratulations Tim, I hope you are patting yourself on your back. I couldn't believe how quick the price went up the last few seconds. That was quite a race. Very exciting.

Terra

I've lost out on lots of ebay bidding by not putting a high enough max in and/or not waiting until the last few seconds. I put my max in 4 seconds before the end of closing. I haven't won enough times to know whether this matters or not. But I didn't want to take the chance that putting in my max bid yesterday would drive the price up too soon.

I'm relieved, but my wallet's not! I did go back over old astromart ads and saw that epsilon 130 OTAs seemed to be listed for around $2k, though I don't know whether that reflects the selling price or not. Tak doesn't make the 130 anymore, but the 180 is over five grand retail!

-Tim

And a big thanks to Neil for scrambling to give us all of those great "out of the gate and racing to the finish line" photographs.

I enjoyed it.

I came here just after posting my disaster in the RV-6 string. I appreciate the uplifting words. Now moving on, I have one RV left out of three to continue with. The other two, including my keeper, will return in 'flying colors'.

Hey, I warned her before I bid! ...but she still thinks I'm nuts because we're in the middle of buying a lot out in Joshua Tree to build a cabin and observatory. Maybe if i leave the walls off?...

Did Takahashi ever make brass retro telescopes?

I may need to get down to brass Taks, if I keep collecting like this.

If I were to zig-zag my way across the sky, looking for comets, would I be Takking?

When I use my FC-76 for visual, I need to be careful, lest I find myself under a Tak.

I'm going to use an old towel to cover the scope when I'm not imaging. Kind of a Tak cloth.

The paint on Takahashi scopes and mounts is really durable. I bet, after properly prepping and priming the parts, they apply a Tak coat before the final finish is applied.

This scope may not be complete, since it's missing the tripod legs and the counterweight, but what's there is inTakt.
