Which eyepiece are you using?

Pretty close I would say. Some of the left look a tad sharper and then a couple show the right side better?

No eyepieces used, just camera and bino body.

It depends in what position I put camera, it is not simple to put camera in 100% correct position because I do not have some adapter to simply put camera in Mark V eyepiece hole.

Here is one very interesting comparation: on left picture is taken only with camera, and on right side camera through right side of Mark V body!

Hi denis0007dl. I've compared the view through the left/right sides of my Baader Mark Vs and agree completely - they are identical. Far different than the comparison with my Siebert Black Nights and Denk IIs, which both show a significant difference between the left & right eyepieces. To eliminate the vision difference between my own eyes, I compared with each eye separately - first in the left eyepiece and then in the right eyepiece. I'd then repeat, over and over, with only the right eye followed by only the left eye, etc. Multiple targets, multiple times, multiple binoviewers. I am completely confident that the Mark Vs present identical views through both left and right eyepieces. It's great to see the work you did to verify my earlier visual impression. I'd love to try this with the new Denk Binotrons, but I'll not be doing that anytime soon.

Binotron is very interesting, and I suppose that Binotron is very close to Mark V in splitting light beam, and light transmittion, but one is sure: Mark V use Carl Zeiss optics, one of finest in the world, extremly sharp optic even at ultra high magnifications...everyone knows/reads how good are ZAOII eyepieces!
Besides, Mark V have 2mmm more clear aperture, 3mm larger prisms, and shorter light path, which is very important to most observers, but all in all, I beleive that Binotron is great alternative to Mark V in many recpects!

Denis,
Thanks for that very interesting comparison, especially the last one, camera only vs MarkV.
Rex

Uh oh, just tried this experiment on my new DenkII and the left side was defiantly brighter and sharper in the left side! I was using my right eye in both sides. Now what?

Bob

Denis,
Did you fix the camera settings to manual? If auto-exposure is used, the camera will compensate for brightness differences. In particular, that last comparison between camera alone and through the BV, should show a 1 f-stop difference, resulting from the factor-of-two difference in brightness. That those images are so awfully similar is suspect.

Following Glenn's suggestion, also be sure the auto-color balance is turned off too!
