I made this sketch yesterday through my 16" truss Dob, and although my sketches of galaxies mostly take only 15-30 minutes to complete, this one kept me busy for an hour!.

The gradual dimming of the soft edges into outer space was relatively easy, but man, that dark lane! I rendered the bean shape with an eraser, but somehow I ,just could not get it right.

But finally, after a lot of tries, it came out pretty nice. Not perfect, but I thought it would be wise to leave it as it was .

This is the final sketch (140x):

Very nice sketch, Roel, and very similar to how I see this little gem. Your galaxy seems to have a blueish hue about it. Was that intentional or is it my distorted eyesight? It's always a pleasure to see your lovely work!

Heel mooi gedaan!

Peter

Nice work Roel,
Great detail. I think you should be happy with the final outcome. It has a great 3D effect when looking at the sketch. Nice website as well. Thanks for sharing.

Ken
