I think he should wear the Atik hat. It may lead to further discount!!

You should recognize me easily enough then. I'll be the one NOT wearing a baseball cap with the shape of Draco on the front.

See you all Saturday.

Regards. Peter.

You do realise you are speaking to a Yorkshire man. There are moths that have been in my wallet for the passed 3 months that have not had a chance to learn to fly yet. I was once arrested for breaking into a 5 pound note.

Regards. Peter.

Wasn't it Liverpudlian comedian, Ken Dodd who once asked whether there were any Yorkshiremen in his theatre audience ?

The response was a hearty "Yes" to which Ken acknowledged,

"Ah Yeah, ..... sitting right at the back again, just in case there's a collection" !

Looking forward to seeing you there, Peter !

Best regards,
Tel

That could cause some confusion as I wasn't planning on wearing mine either. So now I'll have to wear it and people will think I'm Tel.

One for Tel .............. one for Andy.

I could get away with wearing mine as it has the "Neb" at the back. Been meaning to get one with the "Neb" at the front but hav'nt gotten round to it yet.

Regards. Peter.

Have one back!

Will a UHC filter make the neb more noticeable?

Just to add a more serious footnote:

I'm afraid Tony, (Old Timer), will not, after all, be able to join us tomorrow as he had a household accident today which has damaged an eye.

I understand the damage not to be too serious but nevertheless, his vision is obviously impaired and thus restricts his ability to drive for the time being.

I'm sure you'll therefore join me in wishing him the speediest recovery and that hopefully, we'll see him at one or more of future UK "Astrofests".

Get well soon, Tony !

my very best wishes,

Tom.

Hi Attendees !

Just a few lines to say that it was. once again, a pleasure today to meet up with some old friends and to make some new ones !

Tom, Chad, Andy and Peter I've known for a number of years now, but it was especially good to make the face to face acquaintance of Chris J, from deepest Dartmoor, and Chris (cpl43uk) from Bris'ol !

It was sad that Tony, (Old Timer), was not able to join us, but perhaps next time: we all wish you well, Tony.

Well, the choice of venue for this, the first International Astronomy Show event proved, in my opinion and I hope in many others too, to have been well selected with plenty of parking (for 2000+ cars) and more room to move around within the exhibition building than unfortunately the London venue has to offer.

As far as purchases are concerned, I hope everyone got what they set out to buy. However, not so in my case.

I had, I thought, logically assessed a need for a one shot colour CCD camera to complement my existing monochrome, but on putting my reasoning to and receiving from, some good advice from Nik Szymanek, I saved myself a little over 1000/$1555 ! Many thanks, Nik !

I did however spend 20/$31 on a Bahtinov mask for my refractor.

Finally, my special thanks to Andy,( Mushroom Bill) for chauffeuring me there and back, and to our resident, (mobile 'phone) photographer, Chad, Tom's, (Haytor's) son, the results of which will no doubt find there way onto this thread in due course !

Once again, many thanks fellahs for a wonderful day out.

Best regards,
Tel

Just got back to deepest Dartmoor (Hound of the Baskervilles locked away for the night). Great to meet all you guys and as Tel said the venue provided a really good central location for us Brits with more space than our usual London Astrofest.

Although Tel saved 980 this morning thanks to Nik's advice when I spoke to Nik later I understand he will be sending out a bill of 700 for professional services

Yep a day to remember.

Great to finally put faces to names today! A real please to meet you all

The venue itself was absolutely fine for the exhibition though I have heard that the lecture room was less than ideal for those at the back. I can't comment myself as I only went to the trade hall. From my point of view the location was more user friendly than astro-fest and the stands were roomier to wander around. I was disappointed in the lack of bookstalls (no Springer) but otherwise a good range. I went looking for a decent wide field eyepiece (ended up with a hyperion 24mm) plus a simple dewheater band for my 8SE. Can't say there were too many show bargins on offer but nice to rummage around the various dealers. I hope they repeat the show next year.

My 280 mile round trip to the show was well worth the effort.

It was great meeting all the U. K members who attended, an indisciplined bunch if ever I met one.

The venue was good and well laid out. Only disappointment was the lack of "show" bargains.

Enjoyed a good day out in the company of friends and look forward to meet all again at next years show.

Regards. Peter.

P.S. Sorry you were unable to attend Tony. Hope to meet you next time.

Peter.

It was a great pleasure to once again meet up with Tel and Andy, also a very great pleasure to meet up with Peter9, Chris J from Dartmoor, and Chris from Bristol, again so sorry that Tony,OLDTIMER, could not make it due to his eye accident at home, but hopefully we can all meet up again next year.

Personally i had a wonderful day, as did my son Chad, and yes a superb venue, which was much more comfortable than the London Astrofest, more space to move around at this new venue in Leamingtom Spa. As others have said, not much if anything in the way of show bargains, but otherwise a great venue which is far easier for many i`m sure to get to.

My own purchases were a upgrade micro focuser for my Skywatcher ED80 refractor, i also purchased a fragment of a meteorite, and to add to that, my son Chad bought me a book which had been personally signed by Chris Lintott at a book signing, the now presenter of the Sky at Night program, not satisified with that, Chad hunted down the other two presenters of the show, Paul Abel, and Pete Lawrence to also sign the book,so my special thanks to Chad.

Sorry but Chads attempts of taking pics with his mobile phone pretty much produced very blurry images that are not worth posting, however there were three that i managed to salvage.

Firstly this image of Chris J from Dartmoor, chatting with Tel.

Secondly a image of myself in the black jacket to the left, to the right and behind me is Chris Lintott doing his book signing.

And finally the meet up of the CN group, sorry its blurred,From left to right, myself,Chris from Bristol,Andy(mushroom Bill),Peter ((Peter9), what were you pointing at Peter. Tel, and last but not least Chris J from Dartmoor.

.

Best regards to all and hope to see you all again at next years event.I will be sure that next time to take a decent camera along,

Tom.

Flattering,.... as ever at these events, Tom, (Chad), flattering as ever !

As to Peter's raised arm, I think he was trying to indicate that it wasn't him,.... (whatever or whoever it was) !

BTW. Did you get that forwarded email to you which I sent to S at N mag. this morning ? I might have made a mistake in getting it to you.

Best regards,
Tel
