Thought I'd wasted my time last night as thin cloud was blocking out Saturn and only managed 22fps with very dim captures but the resulting stack is pretty decent.

QHY colour cam & 5x powermate , 22 degrees elev :

That is just so impressive for a Saturn at 22 degrees with a 5x PM. Top effort there Stuart.

Trevor

Yep I agree for such low elevation that is an excellent image Stuart. How many frames did you use? how long was the AVI captured?

Great result, particularly with a thin cloud layer. Thanks

Thanks for your comments guys! Dror this was only half an avi really (5500 frames) I normally capture at least 10,000 for 6 mins.

Very nice Stuart! You keep delivering on Saturn - great colours. This is particularly difficult to get with the low elevation we have this time around.

Having had a similar recent experience with thin clouds blocking out Saturn I can empathize with how you felt after seeing frame rates dive into the low 20s and dynamic range withering to wash out some of Saturn's color. Still your CD is well composed and the polar region is reasonably well differentiated from the surrounding area; considering the extreme low altitude of Saturn and your use of a 5x barlow I think you produced some good results Stuart!

Pete

Thanks Pete. I ran the avi through PIPP to stretch the histogram equalizing all the frames which helped AS!2 greatly as without this the stacked image was very poor.
