First "successful" Saturn with QHY5II-L new
      #5845317 - 05/07/13 11:08 AM Attachment (64 downloads)

So, historically I've used a DMK21AU.04 for my planetary/solar imaging, but with all of the new chips on the market, upgraded to something new. I picked up a QHY5II-L (mono) and had pretty good success my first time trying to image Saturn with it.

The following image is through a C14 at native F11.

What I did find though is if I doubled it up to F22 using a 2x Powermate, everything just became a blurry, soupy mess.. I don't know how to deeal with that..

A good start nonetheless Shawn .....getting up around 6000mm f/l require pretty nice seeing for the Aptina-sensored cameras with their smaller pixels.

Nice image, Shawn. When I first got my C14, I had difficulties finding the right barlow to give me the image size I wanted. I ended up with a piggyback barlow, Uranoport 1.5x. I don't know if it will help your situation. But, I thought I would mention it. Thanks for sharing.

Paul

Nice start with your QHY cam Shawn. The larger image scale is quite a shock at first.
