Discovered a supernova last night ! new
      #5845656 - 05/07/13 01:46 PM Attachment (53 downloads)

Very poor transparency last night and homed-in on Arcturus in SE as my goto synch star for scope - then slew to gxy immediately south. I got a buzz when images downloaded and a stellar interloper was seen as a possible supernova but absent from Sloan DSS [inset in my image below] !

Only it wasn't - it as discovered by LOSS Feb 17 as SN2013ab type=IIP in NGC 5669 @ 63MLY via redshift z value =0.0046 and currently ~mag 15

Oh well - I'll keep SNe hunting as it's very addictive! It was my 3rd SN 'discovery' in 2yrs but only one rightly accredited to me in SN2011az - see my link below. I'm only the 5th person in UK to discover a SNe and false-hope is part of the chase - anyone on CN doing SNe hunting

I've been imageing SN 2013AB since March. Here's an image taken on the first of April.

Due to many family issues, paliative parents etc, my wife and I have not had any opportunity to use the telescope gear for over a year This month is extremely hectic, she got a new job, and we are in the process of moving.

BUT, the new job is sending us to an area that is grey on the light pollution map, and the plan is to build an observatory, wooohoooo.

Once the obs is built, and everything is set up permanently, we'll be joining you in the hunt for many things....

Here is my update to your and nytecam...taken on 09 May with
DSLR ISO 800 and PowerNewt at F2.8. 5 X 3 minutes, cropped,
resized...no calibration done. The SN still looks "bright".

Thanks for compliment nytecam. Sadly clear dark skies are
few and far between here in the PNW so I always enjoy
looking at what you are imaging.
