Given the scant information contained in the question, that appears a remarkable piece of detection work, Stanley!

An incomplete, mystery question deserves a random guess.

At least you picked a 10x50 which is one of the all-time greats for astronomy, Stan.

That would be my choice too!

Rich

I thought I had attached the photo to message. But yes, it is that one! The seller does not the brand either. He wants $30 for them. Amazon sells them $30 as well.

A 10x50, with ruby coated lenses, that "zooms in and out"?

I would suggest $30 would be better spent on something different, be it binoculars, burgers or bacon.

Kenny

I will need a lot of burgers and bacon for my trip to Canada to pick up- >$1000 for food, motels, gasoline ;
but who can resist a pair of zoom, ruby coated binoculars?

edj

BTW, Astrohat

Welcome to Cloudy Nights!

FYI about z00m binoculars:

Here's a link to the Big Binoculars website, aka Oberwerk. Kevin Busarow's article explains simply why we don't care for zoom binoculars.

Just Say No to Zoom Binoculars

You did far better getting the Nikon 7x50 Action. I'm sure it will be a great help when your telescope arrives.

Clear skies to you.

Spotting a deep-space object can be very difficult and frustrating with a telescope. Using binoculars will show you exactly where it is, and they you can find it more easily with the telescope. As well, I like the fact to be able to grab the binoculars for a brief skywatching like watching the ISS or unexpected sky event like an UFO.

How did you know if I did not attach the photo of the binos?

Binos are always usefull and fun. My suggestion to 'run away' only referred to the pair in the pic you posted. There are plenty of lower cost better choices than you can be directed to.You will need to up the budget a bit but not alot. Good luck!

BTW,
There is a pair of jason 'statesman' 7x50 in S&S right now for 40 bucks. Back when I collected binos I had several of the 'statesman line'. They were very decent, made in japan, with nice construction and nice 'lower cost' optics. I can almost bet they are far better than the ones you posted a pic of. I dont know that seller but he is no stranger to this site.Might be worth a pm on your part.
