Active Solar Prominence, 17 May - ADDED MOVIE
      #5872272 - 05/19/13 07:30 PM

The is the tail end of an active quiescent filament/prominence that passed over the southwestern limb 15-17 May. A good deal of back streaming was visible over the two hours this series of H-alpha filtergrams represents.

Seeing was actually quite poor but with periodic brief moments of surprizingly smooth air. Good example of why not to crop down a scope just because the seeing does not look promising.

Just added the time-lapse movie made with the sequence filtergrams. A VERY active prominence. Cadance is roughly 10 minutes over 2 hours.
