OVER PROCESSED ?? new
      #5874639 - 05/20/13 08:40 PM Attachment (23 downloads)

is this over processed ?? not sure how to post enabling enlargement. - resized thanks

image is cak merged with imerge as bit map, then opened in photoshop & saved as jpeg.

the stacking process in reg6 results are the same before & after & avistax does not work with my images - not been able to discover why.

resized to 800x800 - at some point in post processing the granulation became less obvious.

thanks

Either resize to 800x800 in Paint or PS.

The small image looks great - interested to see it larger.

Did you try to add color? Or to do it a little less dark?

The image looks great by the way

i dont add color as it tends to wash out detail but it did get darker as i copied & processed to get it to site - usually a bit brighter but thanks for responses.

it's a merge using imerge numbers from earlier postings.
256;25;0; feathered - works nicely

its the linked wavelets that can overkill.

thanks for responses

Terrific as is indeed. I would not add or remove anything to it.

Jean

Of course processing is a matter of personal taste, but you can post-process to lighten things up.

I generally prefer less contrast as it preserves details better - I use the Histogram adjustment in PSP to achieve the results I desire. Don't know what you use, but it could help.

Here's my adjustment for your image, lightening up the penumbras:

THANKS for replies & for the photoshop help -
i lightened my image but i see the granulation is just not there as in other posters' images.

i think it is my stacking process - i shall use "virtual dub" to start selecting the clearer images - regi6 at 95% quality is not showing any difference.

thanks for help

Hi Astrotruck. I would change to using the best frame % in RS6 (I use the best 10-20 %), and go easy on the linked wavelets. Then combine in iMerge, and do the final adjustment for brightness, contrast, etc. in your image program... I use Paint shop Pro, but Photoshop should have the same histogram adjustment tool. For bringing out the granulation, try the unsharp masking tool -- good luck.

BTW -- CaK can be more difficult than Ha, and is more affected by the seeing conditions...
