Thought these made for an interesting comparison - thanks for looking.

Great work Bob ,

I had a serious look into Ha kit at the I.A.S. at the weekend , decided that the way to go will be with on of Ken Huggetts' masterpieces rather than a mass produced one.

It's gonna be a long while until the pot is full though so don't hold your breath ...

Great comparison Bob. WL and CaK seem very active - much more so than in the recent months as expected - and make interesting observing versus the traditional "wow effect" of hydrogen alpha filters. I like your DS Ha image a lot but there's so much happening on the CaK one as well!

Bob.

Would you imagine if I would be able to double stack my LS152 !! My sketches would be twice longer to do. Beautiful comparison, thanks for sharing.

Andre.

You'd just need a sharper pencil Andre ...

Andre, you can DS your 152: check the Lunt web site for Edge Spec, under Optical Coatings, where there is listed a LOS-150-AE-075-656.28 -- a 150 mm H alpha < 0.75 A filter - "POR" > price on request...

Bob.

Really !!! I didn't know that. Surely the price must be astronomical... Thanks for the info. So be prepared for the never seen before ULTRA detailed sun sketches...

No, its a joke... I'm sure the price is not really affortable. I'll check for fun.

Andre.

Steve.

You are right. I'm using a 0.5mm pencil for my full disk sketch and its really hard to do very very fine details like on Bob's picture. I would need a 0.3mm pencil but they don't exist in orange color.

When doing close up sketches, I use a different type of pencil and I can do finer details because proms are bigger.

Andre.

On the left hand side of the Lunt Solar page there is the Edge Spec link to the site "A Divison of Lunt Solar Systems LLC Commercial Optics" with a Lunt cactus logo, which if you follow it will eventually get you here, where the ES etalons are listed:
