C14 on an LX-200 GPS mount? new
      #5881233 - 05/23/13 10:14 PM

After much head banging in the dark, I have concluded that my Losmandy G11 mounted C14 takes up too much room in my small Boyd 7.5" dome. I would like to get a modern fork mount for the scope, but since Celestron quit making fork mounts for the 14 back in the 90's, I am wondering if it's possible to mount the C14 on a Meade LX200-14 GPS? The tube size of the Meade I believe is 16", but my C14 measures 15-9/16" , so a small set of spacing plates should make up the difference?
Thoughts??

Hi,

I'm not saying it's impossible but only very few people will be able to tell you whether or not it is possible at all. I guess you could save yourself some trouble by selling the C14/G11combo and just get a complete LX200-14 GPS. G11's and C14's sell for a decent price and a 2nd hand LX200 may turn out hardly more expensive than what you may sell your current gear for.

Just proposing this as an option.

Wouter.

Thanks for the suggestion, Wouter... I have thought of that, but I love the C14 as it is a bit special, etc. I may get the LX200 mount anyway, and give it a shot....was just hoping someone may have tried this....
