M57, unprecedented detail
      #5882924 - 05/24/13 07:06 PM Attachment (57 downloads)

Yesterday NASA released an image of M57 showing marvellous detail. This image was based on HST data I already processed also about 6 months ago. NASA combined this data with Large Binocular Telescope data, while I combined it before with Subaru telescope data.

So I thought why not combine data from the three telescopes together. This resulted in an image of M57 like I have really never seen it before... I would say sit down, open the full resolution and be engulfed with the universe's splendour

Wow, Andre-
That's a significant improvement on the Hubble release, which was already totally amazing.
Great processing.

Yes, I have been working on M57 for a few week now in H-alpha and O-III and that wild red corona is there... but I only get a whisp of it after 22 subs at 1800s... 11 hours. I'll post what I get later today... this is an incentive to start processing for the weekend!

This is a nice image.
However, I don't understand the color mapping.
It seems like a Hubble palette in the nebulae itself. The outer nebulosity, which in the image is Deep red, consists of both OIII and Ha, but no SII?

I believe the red around this image is the beginning of these layers.. after a lot of H-alpha colecting. I got nothing using my UVIR filter for 1800s.
