Celestron 6SE mount - how long OTA can it support?
      #5895340 - 06/01/13 12:30 AM

Per the manufacturer's website, I can attach other scopes to this mount with a CG5/Vixen style dovetails and it has a 12 lb payload. I would like to find a small refractor that would work well on this mount. I fear the longer it is the greater the chances the OTA might knock into the base of the mount. How long can I go? I would like to be able to potentially mount a 100ED on this thing, but if not then I'll live with it - until I get myself a GEM. Thanks.

An ad I saw (Highpoint) says it is compatible with telescopes up to 17 inches long.
