meteorites=life?

I have always thought that meteorites spread the early elements to jump start life not only on Earth but through out our Universe.

and always refered to meteorites as to the Johnny Appleseed of Earths life because Jhonny also spread the seeds of life in his travels, www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnny_appleseed
