CG5 tripod leg stuck ...
      #5923946 - 06/16/13 03:13 PM

...In retracted position, leg tubes have always been cleaned and wiped down w/silicone spray, last night, one of them felt a little goofy while loosening lock screw and pushed in rather hard, now it seems I'll need channel locks and two people holding mount to get the tube to extend out. Any suggestions out there for a fix?

Try a hammer to loosen it up. Not hard hits, just enough to rattle it. You could try heat as well.

Thanks, yeah took a block of wood and hammer, loosened four set screws on bottom collar assembly & tapped it off the "fixed" leg, then slid the "moveable" leg out of assembly. Turned out there is a bolt shoe that slid out of it's notch in the collar housing (protects the moveable leg from the locking bolt), and caused the shoe to bind against the plastic bushing and leg. Anyway...reassembled in correct order and it's good to go! Crisis over...
