Anyone planning on going this year? Thinking about it but would like to know from anyone who has been how it went and how dark/transparent are the skies? Ive done plenty observing in blue zones, will this be a big difference? Thanks.

What issues with local lights? I thought grey zone meant no light domes.

The lights were from the small towns of Green Bank and Arbovale, which surround the Green Bank NRAO. The NRAO itself did a fairly good job of light abatement when I was there in 2005. (Observing is done on the grounds of the observatory.) IMO, the Almost Heaven Star Party on Spruce Knob would be a better choice, if you're primarily interested in observing.
