Simple pleasures
      #5937513 - 06/24/13 06:25 AM

A friend texted me around 10:30 - "did the ISS just go over??" - and in fact it had - he had seen it pass almost overhead without prior announcement from me (I keep him informed but I missed this one). He was just beside himself with delight at having seen it appear unannounced. Somehow that makes me happy too.

Thanks for sharing that drl.

I was just a bit too young; alive but too young. Were you of an age, and did you take advantage of trying to spot the likes of Sputnick 1 and 2, Explorer. Telstar?

I was too young to get caught up in satellite chasing. We had better stuff, like going to the Moon, to interest us. Being 10 during the first landing on another world was good timing.

I used to watch the Echo satellite go overhead from Memphis, TN. That was a blast.
