Best inexp mount w/giude port?
      #5938595 - 06/24/13 07:41 PM

Considering upgrading the LXD55. It doesn't have an auto guide port, and just wondering on suggestions. Will be used for 35mm Film & DSLR work. I'm thinking a Celestron CG-5GT would fit the bill.

Couldn't come up with a better mount for the money. Trick is to find one new. I am sure there are/will be plenty of used ones as people update to the VX.

I bought a cg5 for $549 new a few weeks ago for my TV102. I'll also use to for a C8. It's a great value. I was tracking Saturn a few days ago and it held the image absolutely steady.

You can guide the LXD55/75 through the Autostar's RS232 port.

Yes, but you need a computer. Won't accept guide commands like an Atlas, using the guide camera directly to the mount.

I want to get rid of having a 'puter connected, and use a stand alone NEXGUIDE auto guider.

Then you have your answer. I too am looking to ditch one more gizmo.
