Comets & Asteroids highest moving RA DEC rate new
      #5931350 - 06/20/13 01:54 PM

Which NightSky software programs provide the moving rate of asteroids & comets in order to calculate the "maximum exposure time without trails" once You know the limiting magnitude for your scope and arcsec/pixel rate for Your camera... (Stellarium & StarryNight don't provide this info)

SkySafari has this info. Say for Ceres:

R.A. +112.8250 s/day
Dec. -291.984 "/day

SkyTools3 for Ceres:

Earth Distance: 3.4 AU
Sun Distance: 2.6 AU
Elongation: 30
Total motion: 1.08 "/min
RA: 1.18 "/min
Dec: -0.21 "/min

TheSky6 for Ceres:

RA rate (arcsecs/sec) 0.0196
Dec rate (arcsecs/sec) -0.0035

Deep-Sky Planner 6 computes total motion over a time period that you specify. For example, Ceres on June 21 at 8am EDT:

Elongation: 29.9W
Distance (Earth): 3.3960au
Distance (Sun): 2.5660au
Total motion traveled over previous minute: 1"

You can change the time period for the motion traveled calculation to suit your imaging equipment. Theoretical limiting magnitude and image scale calculations are provided for your equipment

The Minor Planet & Comet Ephemeris Service (http://www.minorplanetcenter.org/iau/MPEph/MPEph.html ) will also provide the information of sky motion of an asteroid.

CERES list as 1.08 "/min
