Steve

The shoter one I found is the newer style that is octagon shaped one. Total length is from pin center to pin center is 2" adjusted all the way in.

That should work, what is the max length? At 2 3/8" for screw hole to screw hold I can't quite get short enough. Can you send me a pic against a ruler? Thanks!

Steve,

The transformation from last Oct. is impressive

An early 152, being an original unit is a rarity would be my guess.

Have you decided on which objective?

I hope it's now just the motor drive that you would need for a 155 transformation.

Great thread!

Thanks

Bill

Thanks Bill. I'm still waiting for the second objective to come back from Barry at D&G. It has been there for almost 4 months now. I have frequently been told by Barry that it is "shipping this week".

I apprenticed for a very old school tool and dye mold maker.

In my studies I came away with a statement as well as a grumpy attitude when being rushed.
"You can have it RIGHT, or you can have it NOW, but you can't have it RIGHT NOW"!

I feel your pain!!

It will be worth it!!

Bill

Thanks Bill. It is not the 4 months that it bothering me so much, it is the assertions that it is "shipping this week" and then a month later you find out it really hasn't left yet.

Yep,

I hope I didn't misrepresent my thoughts in my previous statement Steve.

It is much more palatable to use the engineering method; make you best estimate double it and that's what you tell your customer!

The customer may be disappointed in the beginning, but it's better than an excuse.

Artisans are a funny clan, they have the best intentions.

Sent the original lens that came with this scope to Barry at D&G today. Now that I have a second lens back in my hands, felt safer sending this one off. There are some minor fungus issues (after being stored in a garage in St. Paul, MN for 15 years), so I really wanted Barry to do the cleaning for me. Sorry this has been so slow...

4+ months now waiting to come back...maybe today ?

Spoke with Barry today and actually got a tracking number, lens is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow! Just about exactly 5 months from when I shipped to him...

Barry did tell me today that it cleaned up very nice and was one of the best early 4" Unitron lenses he had seen.

Your 4" Unitron looks great. Have you used your Unitron already? I'm curious how it shows planets like Saturn. Probably it shows very nice details on planets. Maybe you can write us your experience if you have a nice observation night with this great Unitron.
Cheers,
Roland

Turned out great! Much better than my "extra" 102mm Unitron lens. This is very good, since this lens is the original to the scope and makes the other one surplus.
