I've also been wondering about Edz. Also missed are former moderators zdee (no posts since Nov. 2012) and Joad (only one post since April of this year). Come back guys! Hope all is well...

zdee may have become disenchanted with binoculars per say as he was burned with a pair of 20X80s of Chinese manufacture. I did offer him a pair of Japanese 20X80s at a good price.

The last I heard Bill C is writing for Herb York for a nickel a word. Bill should make the Fortune 500 in no time with his unparalleled verbosity.

As for EdZ he will always remain the supreme quantifier of this forum.

I echo your appreciation for the knowledge BillC and EdZ have so generously given to all on the binocular forum.

Is this possible?

Binoculars were not the issue.

I sent him a Japanese Swift 20x80mm Satellite as a replacement for a defective, discontinued, 20x80LW
which he purchased here on CN, but it could not be repaired. (corrected)

He seemed satisfied with the Swift.

He had other issues which I am not at liberty to share.

Stan

Dear Professor EdZ:

I have been reading your posts on binocular ratings and I am learning a lot. I own five pairs myself including a Fujinon 16x70 MT-SX. My last purchase was an 8x30 Carl Zeiss Jena Denoptrem. I've yet to receive them.

Would you be so kind to tell me your opinion or anything you'd heard about the CZJ 10x50s? I've read that the 1980s models have the better coating. Although I am now doing some birding, I plan to use any Porro 10x50s mainly for astronomy.

Thank you for posting your excellent and far-reaching ratings.

Sincerely,

Mark Teran

I know it sounds archaic to admit I'm totally at a loss about the ins and outs of "tweeting" but can anyone point me in the direction of Edz's tweets. I've always respected his opinion/knowledge in optics and would be interested in his take on the construction market.

I've operated/owned my own construction company (residential and commercial) for the last thirty years and I'm very curious about Edz's views on the industry.

Steve

Just back from a several year hiatus. EdZ has made his mark on CN, and I hope someday he returns. If not... Thanks Ed!
