Spreadsheet with TML observations? new
      #5977222 - 07/18/13 03:01 AM

As my own progress in making telesocpe magnitude limit observations is quite slow I would be interested to get TML observations from other observers.
Bradley Schaefer included a list of TML observations in his paper http://adsabs.harvard.edu/full/1990PASP..102..212S to check (with not this huge success) his TML algorithm - does anybody know of the availability of a spreadsheet with these observations?

Due to the lack of an already existing spreadsheet with the TML observations from Schaefers work I entered a selection (with NEML=6 and magnification ~1.5*D_mm) manually and checked the statistical value of the simple 2.7+5*LOG10(D_mm) formula and found that it works reasonable good with a slightly higher base value of 2.936 and a standard deviation of 0.482.
While it is cumbersome to select and enter the observations manually I will continue with this approach to check my meanwhile developed new approach for calculating the effect of light pollution on resolving faint companions of wide doubles.
Wilfried
PS: The by light pollution increased increment faintness of the secondary dNEML is calculated as
6.93559616693627E-02+4.32571272410334*LOG(((6.5/NEML)^2),2.512)^1.81526832546765*(M2/18)^8.00090419543305. This seems to work quite well for refractors (regression coefficient compared with Schaefers model is 0.992) and in the next step I will have to include the effects of central obstruction

Wilfried, I look forward to rolling up my sleeves in November (dry season) and start observing doubles, again. It is enjoyable keeping tabs on your work.

Norme, looking forward too - your contributions to discussion and observation data set are very welcome.
Wilfried
