Tom Boles' #153 supernova
      #5984012 - 07/22/13 03:36 AM Attachment (17 downloads)

Despite the rising full moon last night managed to get a shot of Tom Boles' new SN [his 153rd!] discovered on July 18 in Draco about 10 deg north of M13 in an annonomous gxy. I estimated from last night the SN was ~m17.0 in comparison to Sloan DSS and Tom this morning confirm that was about spot-on. The gxy is the abutting smudge and is ~ 400MLY away !

The SN has been designated type Ia @ z=0.033 = ~400MLY range but awaits a SN2013?? number - see Bright Supernova

I've known Tom for many years for his extraordinary SN work - he registered for me my SN2011az discovery

Nice work! Is this what you are doing mostly? Follow up of SN?

Are you imaging with the Lodestar?

Tom Boles is SN hunting buddy and as there were no confirmatory images mine would be welcome. I used my SX Lodestar-M mono cam on my 12'' SCT @ f/6.3:-)

Yes, I know Tom Boles from articles etc...

That Lodestar seems sensitive. Magnitude 17 in 180 sec.

Actually the SN is just detectable in some 10s subs!
