Anything that doesn't have "Brandon" printed on it. Well, that's not entirely true, my antiques have nothing printed on them at all...

I'm assuming you mean "what type of stuff".

Not necessarily. I can be categories or specific items.

OK. In that case, I don't have any of these things in my collection:

Saddle blankets
Spark plugs
Guitar strings
Navel lint
Empty granola boxes
Cans of WD-40
Safeway coupons
.44 magnum cartridges
Dog hair
Tea bags
Ancient alien artifacts

... I guess that's it.

I note that hairballs are not on the list

The lieca zoom is not in my collection because they are really long winded in sending a replacement because of a lens defect.

No zooms,
None of the costly TV's = Ethos, Naglers, Delos. Do have the plossls but bought all of them used.
None of the ES offerings.
No Pentax etc.

Just cannot warrent to myself the cost of them, having an 82 degree eyepiece has little appeal. Quite happy with the 60 degree ones I have.

I don't purchase eyepieces with less than a 50° AFOV since I prefer AFOV between 60° and 100° AFOV. My 8-24mm Pentax XL zoom does have less than 50° AFOV at the 24mm FL but it has 60° at 8mm and it's a great zoom. I also don't like eyepieces with short eye relief and that is why I sold my pair of 16mm Nagler T5s after getting a pair of 20mm Pentax XW and 13mm Ethos.

What is not in my collection, in general, are those eyepieces that don't have enough eye relief to wear glasses and observe. That trend has changed a bit as there are orthos now in my collection that provide small enough exit pupils with certain scopes that they become usable for me. But the list of others not in the collection:

- No classic eyepieces (Claves and the like): no attraction for me
- No Brandons: have not been bitten by the bug yet
- No ZAOs ZAOIIs, SuperMonos: too pricey and I got back in the hobby too late to get them at a better price point
- No Ethos/Nagler/Panoptic except for the 1 of each that I have, as I am relegated to longer ER EP's only in most of those focal lengths and then also I do have a DIOPTRx.
- No ES eyepieces except for the ES68 28. Still waiting for ES to come out with their Delos clone.

I haven't got that stuff either. Now, have you left them out on purpose? For me, my alien artifacts are too big to fit in the eyepiece case. I keep it in an army storage tent in my backyard. As for .44 rounds, I wouldn't have any of those. My preferred bear repellant is .357 Mag. delivered by Marlin carbine.

Just haven't gotten around to including them, I guess. And it's tough to get enough navel lint together to be useful, unless you can get your friends in on it.

No 1.25" eyepieces over 10 oz, so no XWs, LVWs, or Delos. No 100 degree monsters -- like the view thru an Ethos but prefer being married and won't be bothered by the weight disparity it would cause with my T6s and Barlowed Barandon, BCO, Sterling and TV Plossls. No "simple", short eye relief designs below 10mm (I do have a 2x and 3x Barlow, both less than 5oz individually). No 'archive' eps. If they never get used, hasta la classifieds, baby. Consequently, my ep's number only 13 (plus the two Barlows). I like as wide a field of view as I can get but cannot suffer sub-excellent planetary performance, so own no ES 82* in shorter focal lengths. And since all of their 2"-ers except one are too heavy (a 2" 18mm ep with less TFOV than my 8.4 oz Pan 24?), no ES 82*s at all for me.

No 100° - not enough ER (glasses) and 82° is still a novelty for me
No ES - I bought into other lines before all the current sales
No Delos - I'm really trying to buy one but I don't have a Delos-shaped hole in my EP set
No Pentax XW - ditto Delos
No Panoptics - not enough ER, bought Meade 5K at the fire sales
No Brandons - until I can borrow a few to see the difference, I can't rationalize it
No TMB Monos - ditto Brandons
No LVWs - never saw the value and have Hyperions which are good enough (for now...)
No TV Plossls - not enough short FLs to cover my planetary needs

I have a lot of singles of many other designs, some excellent, some very far from excellent.

No Naglers, Ethos, or Delos - I just can't stomach spending that kind of money on an eyepiece. I could, but just don't want to.

My "premium" eyepieces are 5 Meade 5000 series UWAs. My fun EPs are a set of Meade RGs and my TV Plossl smoothies.

Steve

So I am asking what you left out, delayed, or avoided on purpose.

We're talking personal preferences here, .......

So, what is NOT in your eyepiece collection?

When I returned to the hobby several years ago, I knew what scopes I wanted, so I only purchased eyepieces optimized for those scopes. There are so many variables to equipment combinations nowadays, that I didn't want to wade through the quagmire of eyepieces and brands out there, or waste my time and money on hit and miss research.

So at present, what's "not" in the eyepiece collection is everything, except two sets of Questar Brandons and a few Zeiss Jena Orthoscopics. I will likely purchase some Ethos eyepieces, if or when we acquire a Portaball reflector.

No 31mm Nagler Type 5.
No ES eyepieces (though I've owned many).
No ZAOs/ZAO IIs.
No Takahashi eyepieces (though I've owned full sets of both the LEs and the MC Orthos).
No TMB Planetaries (though I've owned the full set).
No Nikon NAV-HWs (though I'd like to try one).
No University Koni IIs (though I've owned several).
No Meade Research Grade Orthos or Wide Angles (though I did own a complete set, including the original boxes).
No Baader Hyperion (not to be confused with the Hyperion Aspherics; though I've owned standard Hyperions).

Other than that I probably have one of everything else ever made.

- Jim

Mediocrity is not in my eyepiece case.

I'm still evaluating the 20mm ES100.

What's not in my eyepiece collection:

- Eyepieces over 40mm focal length. I sold all of them soon after I sold my C4R (4" f/9.8 achromat).
- Naglers, except for the two Nagler Zooms (I'd like a 31mm Type 5)
- Panoptics (I never wanted any of them enough to buy one, used or new)
- Ethos (I'd like a 13mm)
- RKE's, except for a bino pair of the 28.7mm
- UO Volcano Top Orthos (replaced them all with BGO's, other orthos, etc.)
- TMB Planetaries
- Kellners, except for an odd straggler here and there
- Plossls, except for TeleVue, Sterling and a couple Meade 3000's
- Ramsdens
- Huygens, except for a CZJ H-16 and a CZJ H-25

Mike

Eyepieces over 40mm (already got the widest TFOV with 70 AFOV).
Only 1 orthoscopic (which has illuminated grid).
Only Possils that came with scope.
No Coronado eyepieces - just use possils or solar viewing.
No one element stinky balls - like wide views.
No 3" eyepieces or focusers yet
No makes other than TV, ES, Meade, Orion, University Optics, Discovey.
