My Time Machine new

I was going through my imageshack pics and came across this one of my 32cm Newtonian, built in 1985. Most of the names involved will likely be unfamiliar, but I thought you guys might enjoy the stroll back in time. I took the picture before I sold the scope in 2011. Completely assembled it weighed well over 350 lbs, though the heaviest single piece of the mount itself was about 75lb. I used this for several published photos in S&T and Astronomy in the late '80s to early '90s, taken with hypered Fuji film. Talk about primitive compared to our equipment today, and just too much to transport easily anymore:

1. Enterprise Optics 12.5" f/5 mirror with enhanced coatings.
2. Meade gel-coat tube purchased at their yearly "garage sale" in Costa Mesa.
3. Bill Schaefer mount with 10" Beyers gear.
4. Mirror cell, rings, tripod, and spider with 3.1" secondary by Bill Schaefer.
5. Homemade 10" counterweight discs from a metal yard.

What a beauty! I bet you had many memorable nights with it. But, I can also see that it is a beast. Thanks for sharing the pic.

Definitely a candidate for a scope dolly or a permanent observatory. That mount is spectacular!

It was definitely rock-solid. But I don't miss the 45-90 minute marathons staring at a guide-star and making corrections.

You can see the results are nothing like we see now. This was a 45 minute exposure:
