Deep sky hounds,

My latest addition is now available on my site. Hope you enjoy it. Some easy ones and others are tough.

Excellent addition to the site! The VV catalog is not easy to wade through - and I don't just mean observing the object. Many entries are not even interacting galaxies from the modern standpoint - after all the original catalog was published in 1959. Yet I feel a special attachment to these VV objects, because VV himself (Boris Vorontsov-Velyaminov) was the author of my high-school astronomy textbook.

Coincidentally I was just going through my notes trying to find out how many I have observed. 15 seems to be the number, and they are listed and the observing notes linked on the "Interacting Galaxies" tab that I have added just under the title of my blog.

This is indeed a uniquely usable guide to this catalog. Pretty much just browsing through it I have found another VV object that I observed without realizing it was a VV. Sure gives a collector that warm fuzzy feeling

Thanks Alvin for the excellent works - I've extracted a few and checked them out against SloanDSS for the next clear night under London backyard skies and I'm hopeful

Hi Alvin

Excellent work as always, and perhaps my favorite objects to view, as in interacting systems.

I started a personal list a few years back that was going by season, but never completed the list in writing.

Did a couple for Galaxy Log videos, and will continue to do so, but this work you have done is exceptional (as always).

For all of us GALAXY HOUNDS, you continue to provide us with some terrific information and challenges, and making as I say galaxy observing the pinnacle of astronomical observing.

Thank you and Clear Dark Skies.

If the Sloan is available and the detail is needed to label individual components, then it is included as the inset image.

The Vorontsov-Velyaminov Catalogue of Interacting Galaxies (Part II) observing guide is now out!

Many more VV's objects than Part I - well over 400 objects. I've spent some time going through his original list, made corrections to coordinates, edited some size and magnitudes and for a few, corrected the locations.

Hope you find this one stop observing guide useful at the eyepiece.

I don't want to hijack this thread too much, but I just wanted to tell you that I am just getting into astrophotography and your Selected Small Galaxy Groups guide is basically my inspiration. I hope to capture every entry in it. Fantastic work.
