Geoff, you don't fool around when you hurt yourself, that was some serious accident.I'm sorry about the attempt at misplaced humor in my post earlier. Please take care and get well.

Don't worry about the humor Grey, it helps to laugh... I just got an image in my head of you dancing around, with the palm sander slowly climbing up your leg...

You certainly don't do things "in half" measures, Geoff, do you ? (Or perhaps you do) ?

Still, remember you're British, so, stiff upper lip and "thumb" up !

Sorry mate, but I just couldn't resist.

Seriously though, you have been through the wars since we met in London those few years ago where I met a guy of great character and humour who since, hasn't had it at all easy and by now, deserves a real span of good luck.

May the operation on your thumb be fully successful !

Best regards,
Tel,

Hey, just an afterthought, if they take that digit off your foot, you'll be able to suck your toe again; for the first time in around, what, 65 years ?

Hope all goes well Geoff. Sounds as if you are in good hands. As Tel says, you are due a spell of good luck. I know all here will be pulling for you.

As a follow up to Tel's "toe sucking" it puts me in mind of the little boy who was born without eyelids. The doctor said they could circumcise him and make eyelids with the foreskin. His mother was unsure asking, " would that not make him cockeyed".

Regards. Peter

Thirteen years ago I helped extricate a co-worker from a sawmill edging machine. The fellow had gotten his hand caught between a steel plate and a six inch corrugated drive roller. His hand was between those two objects, with the drive roller spinning for approx. one minute.

Today Travis has a fully functioning hand...and it is a testament to the techniques and skill of the surgeons and to the hard work Travis put into his rehab.

Better days await, Sir. Good Luck!

Yes Francois, a miracle did take place...

Tell, I still have the sense of humor, AND THE LIP IS VERY STIFF after all the chewing it has taken...

Peter, what can I say other than to thank my lucky stars the skin was from the FOREARM...

Well just to keep you all in the loop... I have spent further time in Hospital after getting an infection in the bone graft... I am now on two types of antibiotics for a period of six weeks, after which time there will be further surgery to get the new thumb working... I am told another two operations will be needed over the course of two/three months before the hand/thumb can be used to its' full potential, I am now visiting Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary twice a week for dressings, and swabs to keep an eye on the infection... I will keep you updated on the outcome...

All best wishes, Geoff.

You sure have been through the wars, poor fellah !

It sounds however, as if you're in capable hands and that ultimately, you'll have the use of that thumb back once more. (Use it carefully) !

Continuing to think of you. Let's see you up and running as soon as possible and hopefully, even meet up with you again and the rest of the lads at the next IAS !

Geoff oh Geoff, Good grief. Your back gets better and you lose a thumb. Man, please stay on that infection. We want to see back with an opposable thumb. Here's hoping and praying that you mend and everything gets back to normal. All the best and get well!
