Ghost nebula with little ghosts
      #6006909 - 08/05/13 12:36 AM Attachment (32 downloads)

took this shot of the Ghost nebula over the past 2 nights in a row using a 60da and a 5"apo f/6,,,
I have been blessed with a string of clear nights over the past week till tonight,, clouds rolled in giving me time to process this image.

enjoy,,,
BTW sorry about the satellite,,, it was the longest sub and I didn't want too loose the data of a single sub,, I know I can use max min,,,

I think the Sat streak gives it character you sure its not a meteror though? most sats dont appear and dissappear and the persids are going pretty strong at least down here in california right now, i saw at least two dozen visually on friday night while imaging.

Great shot! You're always finding obscure targets few people ever shoot! Looks like the three ghosts in the cauldron from the Spiderman episode with the Green Goblin and JJ Jamesome.

Looks great!

What's the exposure time for the subs and ISO and total exposure time?

Jerry

thanks guys for all the comments once again,,,
and Gerry, I accumulated 85 minutes of data
spread between 330 seconds and 540 seconds and
all at iso 1600, all under fairly dark skies and relative
cool temps (~55F-60F) which helped to control noise.

It's absolutely amazing that you captured that faint stuff with just 85 minutes of total exposure.

It is a testament to your dark skies and skill as an astrophotographer.

Jerry

Beautiful Ghost nebula, Kev. You did a great job with your processing, bringing out some excellent and subtle nebulosity.

Great image KB. What is the catalog number for this object? I really like shooting these dust clouds.

the ghost is sh2-136 if my failing memory serves me correct
aka vdB 141,,, the ghost is only a few degrees or less from the iris nebula just go to the iris ngc 7023 and move west toward the body of cepheus by a degree or 2 and there be the ghost
