Explore Scientific 14mm 100 availability
      #6015331 - 08/09/13 08:57 AM

I would like to purchase the 14mm ES 100. They are out of stock on the ES website. Has anyone out there purchased one recently? Any idea of possible wait times? Is it best to place an order directly with ES?
Thanks

I bought the 14 a little over a month ago, the 9mm has been on b/o since then though. You might get it a little quicker directly from ES, but you might get lucky and find a vendor somewhere distant with one in stock.

Me, personally, while not adverse from ordering eyepieces online, mostly buy from the local telescope shop. We are lucky enough to have one in Denver, and I want to ensure it stays in business. I still get it at the same price (there is tax however), but on many occasions, there is also no waiting....I got the 14mm by walking in the door.....they were out of stock on the 9mm.

Pretty much all of the on-line sites are out of stock of the ES 14/100 at this point. I think I grabbed the last one from Agena Astro.

I got mine used , but in excellent condition! (Both the 14mm and 9mm ES 100's). Now I am just waiting on the 30mm ES 82 to arrive in about a week.

Still loving them in my scope

What was really weird is that my 14mm is a new one with the pretty box, but the 20mm, which was ordered thru ES from the scope shop about a week later, was the older, N2 purged in the dark box. Doesn't matter to me though, as the N2/Ar purging doesn't affect how the eyepiece works. They are both fantastic eyepieces.....Now I'm waiting for the 9mm to come in....

It's well worth the wait, out of all my eyepieces, the 14mm 100 is by far my favorite.

Bought mine used. Bought the 9 and 20mm new from Astronomics - both were in stock. This was in June.

They are out of stock at ES, so dealers and ES are waiting for them.

Not for me! I'm on a 56K dialup line; it would have taken about 5 minutes. I'd still have done it, though, except I've already got one so I wasn't that interested.

Out-of-stock status must mean a healthy dose of demand for the 14mm ES-100's, glad to already have one on hand, great EP!

ES-100 14mm

Best,

Hey, I put my money into the important things (like eyepieces). Fast internet access is *way* down on my "important" list. Seems like you have to get cable TV with the package, and TV is even lower on the list! (Like, close to last.)
If I need fast web access, I go to the library (about a mile away).

PS: "LOOL"?

And: All I ever said was Brandons are the best I've ever used. Not my fault that many others, far more knowledgable than I, consider them to be the best.
(But, who am I to argue with them? )

New EP versions are something to look forward to but the slight eye lens recess on the ES-100 is not so much of an issue, at least to my eye. Worth re-tooling? - only ES can answer as to what happens next.

Best,

I was able to find one of these in about ten minutes of internet sleuthing.

http://handsonoptics.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_136_138...

I actually located the EP on this vendor's Ebay site, which showed 3 available. Checked their website and it indicated available as well.

Both sites show it as the Nitrogen-purged version. In fact, it's the Argon-purged version (which apparently only makes a difference if you plan to re-sell it).

How do I know this?
