Cool banner Tom. I love the 60s psychedelic type face for Classic Telescopes.

I have a 42" wide hp 800ps printer.

if you go to shutterstock.com you can pick any pics for the background I can down load it to work on.

I like classic scopes.

Hi Tom!

This is WONDERFUL NEWS! Congratulations to you and Jon on bringing this to fruition!

I have been away from the forum due to work and and some things at home including senior care issues with my mother. Nothing too serious just very time consuming.

It's great that you have been able to get things started so early. My job (I'm in the military) doesn't allow me to plan out that far. That's why you saw me spinning things up so close to to NEAF two years ago. When I do attend NEAF, I am always on the Stellarvue Team so it's great to hear that others will be able to focus their full attention on the Classic scopes.

I will offer up my Unitron Model 160 to bring to NEAF. It looks like I will be able to attend but it's always iffy for me until about 120 days from the event. I have some other scopes if you need to fill some holes at the last moment.

Hi Preston

Great to hear from you! I'm sure there is always room for your handy work at the show! I would love to talk with you about the event and the many question I have. Please pm me with your phone number so we can talk. I'd love to tap your experience with how the inner workings of the show works and the setup times and such. I can use your experience! You did a great job two years ago.

Turk

Just wanted everyone to know things are still on track for the Classic Telescope booth at NEAF 2014. I spent some time on the phone with Preston talking about the event two years ago and got a lot of information about the event and lots of good ideas on how to improve it. Preston will be helping on the sidelines which I welcome a lot.

I am still looking for design ideas for the banner signs that will be used in the booth. I also am looking for a local tee-shirt shop to do a "special" classic telescope T-shirt for those participating in the booth. I believe I've worked up a design for that and that may carry over to the banner. I would like to get as many T-shirts as (people) x (days worked). I don't want anyone doing laundry in their hotel room! So if you work 2 days, you will get 2 T-shirts. Design to follow soon.

Maybe Jon could chime in on the telescope plan. Preston is sending us his floor plan powerpoint file to help layout the 2 booths.

Organizers for the event are really not up and running at this early date, so we have little information from them other than we will have 2 booths. I want to add electric and internet for slideshow presentations and something Preston came up with, for "live posting" from the show to a thread here. Won't that be scary!

So things are still churning as we approach the spring event. I am looking forward to making this happen for our group.

Please post ideas here or if you participated last year or attended, give us your thoughts on how things can be improved.

thanks

Turk

For the banner I was thinking of lettering like one would see on ads from the 1920's or so. At the beginning could be an image of some equatorially mounted classic refractor. At the end a nice image of a reflector(Cave perhaps?). In order not to slight the cat people there could be tiny images of sandcast C8's dotting the 'i's.

It would make my life easier of the CNCT booth was next to the ATS booth. And the ATS booth has been near the Stellafane booth which is kind of neat.

Oh, yeah, we have to have at least one of the Crist miniatures there.

Which brings up the subject of the tables. We had 4 tables in the booth in 2012. On them we had a great display of Satellite scopes and a few other smaller scopes. I also had a lot of my classic eyepieces on display. I'm thinking Peter's Quantums would be on a table but we don't have much else committed so far that would be table top items. Of course we could have fewer tables and more floor space if needed. A couple of Questars would be nice. Any other ideas?

The current application for the booths does not say how many tables you get per booth. Last year it did and I believe it was 2/booth. I will have to contact them to verify how many we can get. Of course we can always bring our own, I believe. I have some cave original documentation, like catalogs and letters I can bring. We could also print out some of the old ads run in S&T. I can also build those into a slideshow that can run on my 27" IMac I will be bringing. I thought I would grab a collection of many of the scope images from members of cloudy nights. That could be a nice project for someone out there!

If you want Crist miniatures I can bring 3 more: a 4" Clark, a Clark comet hunter and a one-off AP 6" Starfire on an AP800 mount,

Peter B.

A display of classic Crist miniatures - that would be very cool. I'll put those on the list Peter.

It's a darn good thing that we are not adding classic ATM scopes to the display.

There wouldn't be any room and I know some of our forum members have old ATM scopes a lot bigger than mine!

Turk - I have a very complete set of mid-70's Celestron / C8 documentation which I'll be bringing -- including a complete optical test report for my C8, signed by Tom Johnson, with photographs of the tests.

John

Any way you can post or link that test report? That would be some interesting stuff.

Sure - I have to scan it in, but once that's done, shouldn't be a problem.
