M16

Sorry guys, but work kept me from participating to this forum for a while. In order to make it up to you, here's last weekend's M16. In spite of the flashing lights from a local fair the nebula stood out beautifully through the OIII filter and the main "pillar of creation" was clearly visible!

Cheers,

Peter

Absolutely beautiful, exquisite...Even with an OIII filter I can't tease out that detail from M16 since I am limited by aperture and sky conditions. Again...bravo!

18" + dark location + fine object + good sketcher = beautiful sketch. I never knew sketching was mathematics

Thank you very much Randolph and Jef. But you're absolutely right in saying that a decent sky does miracles...

Fantastic, Peter. Nicely processed, too. I got an OIII filter last Christmas but haven't tried it on M16--I will now, tho.

Peter,

This is a great sketch of M-16.
You certainly have captured what is possible with an 18 incher. I love these true to eye sketches you do.

Frank

I saw M-16 last Saturday night using an Orion Ultrablock filter away from home at a darker site I go to. I wonder if the O-III would be better for this particular object?

Dear Roel, aren't you exaggerating a little now? You make me blush...

How do you make the image dark like that... Do you use white pencil? Beautiful by the way!
